It was just yesterday that I read somewhere
About a man who was "somewhat famous"
In fact they were categorized
"Somewhat Famous" and "Very Famous"
How funny those words resonated
Not, of course, so funny to the man they spoke of
As I'm so sure he would disagree
In all honesty, I think he would say...
Somewhat famous WTF
I am famous or I was famous
I have been adored by thousands
Who keeps count
I believe I even received the key to a city
Granted it's probably been tossed away by now
Sitting in someone's dusty basement
Tarnished and twisted
Still, it is mine all the same
How does one become somewhat famous
Is it like, oh yes, today you are famous
Tomorrow, not so much
Try back in a few weeks
We'll see how it goes
I don't get it
I do picture though a bunch of stuffy nobody's
Sitting around a shiny mahogany table
Discussing the final fates for all but themselves
"So sorry, these people are not very famous
Hmmm, but we can't just push them to the side like trash
I guess we'll have to acknowledge them for something
So to be nice, we'll give them their own little title
Just in case somebody out there cares"
Somewhat famous I guess in the end is not so bad
In some ways it's even better
To not be forced to live up to the personality police's expectations and from that mountain fall
In fact, I think it's fair to say
I'd rather to have never been famous at all
