Who’s To Say
To what end do we judge this world
Both in beauty and difference
For what seems enchanting to me
May not be true of you
Why do we prefer the taste of bitterness
When honey is so much sweeter on the tongue
And who’s to say what is
Or the way it should be
There is no right or wrong
When the heart heeds its call
Exotic, erotic, magnetic, hypnotic
Our differences should never be bathed in ignorance or complacency
Look deeper than the physical eye allows you to see
It’s there you’ll find the sacred key
Just waiting to be undone
It is all that makes us who we are
So who’s to say what one should behold
And determine the vibrancy of the colors that enfold
Trees, flowers, people
Even the sea breeds its own mysteries
Stupidity I typically try to ignore
Opinions are our given right
Unless of course they are completely asinine
You know, the ones that just fire you up
Somewhere in the darkness you’ve missed the point
Fat, thin, short, tall
Soft, rough, shaggy, bald
Black, white, red, blue
What seems enchanting to me
May not be true of you
