Ode to Eric

I have felt the East Wind blowing sweet and warm upon my face
and stood by the warming hearth of a dear friend's fireplace.
Stood in the healing waters of the good earth's lakes and seas
and walked her sandy beaches and beneath Her tall pine trees.
Oh where do you journey on this long path of life?
Is the way long and weary and its stones hard with strife.
Or soft as the mosses by a cool mountain stream
and paved with the promise of your fondest dreams.
I have felt the calming presence of spirits old and new,
left my footprints in the clover when wet with morning dew.
I have lived and loved with passion and I have drank my cups of woe,
and I have laughed and cried with strangers whom I did not even know.
Oh where do you journey on this long path of life?
Is the way long and weary and its stones hard with strife.
Or soft as the mosses by a cool mountain stream
and paved with the promise of your fondest dreams.
So when my day is over and my race is finally run
you can know I stand beside you when you face the morning sun.
When the cool breeze of the evening caress your hair and smiling face
and you know you are thrice blessed by The Lady and Her grace.
I am with you every moment and you never need to fear
for we are joined in spirit and I am always near.
Oh where do you journey on this long path of life?
