Mitters and ...

by SilverAngelFire

Age Group: Adult

Mitters and …

The sun this day is magnificent
Like warm liquid gold
Streaming from the sky
Forcing my eyes open
Though with a smile on my face
I awoke amidst a tell tale dream
I imagine because you were there
I guess it is as it always is
When I try to forget

What I’d give this day
To have risen to the sound of sea birds
Overlooking a white sand beach
Hypnotized by the crashing of the waves
Coffee in hand
It certainly would have been complete
But is only a small courtyard here
Bustling with Morning Doves and Blue Jays
Gracing my vision
And it is fine all the same

There is little of the dream I remember
Snipets, I guess one would say
It was one of high school days
I stood on line waiting for something
I don’t know what
These two girls tried to cut in line
You know the ones
With their noses in the air
Who think they’re better than everyone else
I think I literally growled at one of them
Which would not have been unlike my past
Thus she quickly scurried away
Then like a flash
Before I made my way to the second
I was off to a far away land

There I stood graced by her presence
Beautiful, radiant, amazing
Yet equally sneaky and conniving
She knows how to bring me back
How to erase the fear and pain in my mind
However in vain her attempts may be

It is there she stood
Her book in hand
A yearbook of sorts
Though I think it was more
There, right there
Do you see?
This is where he first started
Playing mitters and …
I’m sorry I did not catch the second half
Mitters and…
I don’t know what that means
Mitters is not even a word
As far as I can tell
Never the less that’s what she said
Oh my and you were you
Just absolutely precious
All that curly hair
Not more than five you were I’d say
Like a kindergarten picture
Still, she knew as she always does
It would put a smile on my face
Everything else would be washed away

Perhaps it is just this day
This sacred celebration of Mothers
For she is always in my heart
Actually it is this day
I have about three of them
Including my own of course
Swirling around in my head
Three utterly outstanding Moms
Three as brilliant as the brightest stars
Three as beautiful as the summer sky
Three strong enough to battle
Life’s unexpected tendencies
But is one and only one
That knows how to manipulate me
Which does not include my own
When the shadows get to be too much
