Serenity
Moments so oft are merely a blur
Racing by so quickly
We try so hard to grasp their meaning
All the while slipping through our fingers
Other times they seem more like a dream
Fantastical and surreal
But this is not a dream
That which binds us
You think somehow you’ve wronged me
Hurt and misguided me
The truth is quite the contrary
Perhaps it is as simple as this
For all that we believe
We are right where we should be
And it is I, willfully
Who holds on for dear life
Allowing fate to have its way
Not because it is inevitable
But more so that it is undeniable
As each sense awakens
Leaving me breathless and in awe
I feel as though I am without worry or reason
Whisked off upon the bluest of seas
Blind to the events born in its presence
The winds moaning in unison
With the coming of the storm
It’s core reaching deep within the twilight
Thrusting strong against the waves it has inspired
As light explodes within
No, fear does not reside here
Only serenity
In the wake of the flood
It is safe to say that when it's gone
It is then I feel confined
And words escape me in silence
