Into the Never

Into the Never
Journey with me
From within I feel the pull
Into the never I am hurried
Along walkways lit of gold
Upon a cobblestone path
Where starlight rains down
Amidst silver moonbeams
And ravens call graciously
Safe passage I’ve been granted
For this too is my home
Though dark corners there may reside
I shall not ever know that fear
As my guardian strolls along side me
Beyond the boundaries
The fluttering of butterflies grows stronger
Foretelling hope and change
That leads me to the far edge of destiny
Looking out I see the light
It is warm and welcoming
Equal to my line of sight
As hues of pinks and blues
Yellows and greens
Weave themselves within and without
Reaching far to dance upon my fingertips
And yet just below this wonderous sight
Creeps the shadowy abyss
Pulsing in the graying mist
Threatening to take this life breathed into me
A hard fall for sure
With the earth slowly crumbling beneath you
It is a fast and furious downward spiral
If one is not careful
But I am reminded
I shall not know that fear
As this soft seduction flows through me
There is trust
Absolute and unconditional
That steadies me
By strength of hand and heart
Easing me into vision
My body arched
My arms outstretched and splayed
I am bathed by the shimmering stardust
Whilst the whisper in my ear heightens
Inspiring me closer to the edge
By word, thought and deed
I am coaxed deeper into the never
My guardian, my protector is there
And I listen intently as he speaks…
It calls to you
Can you not hear it
The drumming it grows
Beckoning you
It shall not cease
You must go to it
Heal and be healed within the light offered
For all that I have taught and nurtured within you
You must go
Hear and see and feel
Do not fear that which has been brought to you
It is where you belong
Trust just as you do in this moment
Follow that which you cannot deny
When you become weary
I’ll be there to catch you before you fall
To release the agony spurning within you
He speaks
And I can no longer contain myself
I am carried along the breeze
As wings sprout from my heart
That send me soaring into the never
Willfully accepting that which is
Every ounce of energy poured into me
I am crying out
The ache quickly building
Pleading as it would seem
Only makes it stronger
Yet I can think to do nothing but
It is too much and yet not enough
And I ascend higher to greet the fall
There will be no harsh landing this night
As I am subdued by angelic wings
Driving me to my grounding
Steadying me
Relieving me
Of the storm that has enveloped me
Until I find myself on the banks of a river
Sheltered beneath the twilight
Without thought
As the cool wind caresses me
Likes fingers running through my hair
Softly tugging each strand
Drifting slowly
Into the never
