Someone To Watch Over...

by SilverAngelFire

Age Group: Adult

Someone to Watch Over…

There is at times an aching need
To release the binds born of age and time
A calling to re-explore the passages of youth
When life was unhindered by fear
And I cherish those moments
Fleeting as they may be
Guided by the light of a heart song
That nurtures the fire igniting my dreams
Content I am along this journey
It is my own will that sets me free
Too, I have been blessed to walk amongst the clouds
It is who I am and cannot change
Kissed by the wind that caresses every inch of my being
Assuring me that I am safe
Knowing there is someone to watch over…

How or why the soul responds is still a mystery
The simple things draped in their complexity
Perhaps it is nothing
Nothing more than the wrath of a passing storm
Forcing us to our knees
Only to awaken us to what was or will be
Though I could live without those lightning bolts
Unbearable at times
Still, the pain can last only but a moment
Even on the darkest days there is a glistening of hope
Something good that shall come
So oft it’s been noted, “somebody up there must love you”
Oh if only you knew
I can’t help but to smile brightly inside
Knowing there is someone to watch over…

In what some would deem as the color of insanity
Might just reside the vivid hues of normalcy
It is anyone’s guess
A judgment call so it would seem
But who are we to judge
I myself am swept away
By the beat marching in time through my head
Until the soldiers path becomes obstructed
When I can no longer see
Yet, I am never abandoned
For the keeper remains at my side
Unlocking a single iron door leading to the twilight
While the ravens take flight
In my hand is placed a gold and silver key
With an urgency blanketed by the sweetest sincerity
Things are sometimes exactly what they appear to be
And I am not afraid
Knowing there is someone to watch over me
