The Song Of The Great God Pan

Age Group: Adult
Walking home, on a dirt road in late spring,
Listening to the crickets and birds as they sing.
Feeling the warmth of the sun all aglow,
The scent of wild flowers, no trace of winter’s snow.
Near the trees I see a large deer,
His eyes becon me forward, “come to me, come here”.
So, I decide to let go, throw caution to the wind,
Going into the woodlands, going deeper within.
I look up and I notice, that the stag has now gone,
I hear in the distance...a bird, a flute, a mysterious song.
At that moment, my heart starts to race,
As fear and panic fall upon my face.
With wild curiosity, “Who’s playing that song?”.
Unbridled wildness, as I follow along.
The song gets louder, as I approach an old oak tree,
My head starts to spin, so I bend down on one knee.
My heart starts to race, I have sweat on my hands,
I peer around the oak tree, only to meet...
The Great God Pan!
