Midnight Serenade

Midnight Serenade
Oh if only were today
This grand adventure
Where our hearts soared free
How we gazed upon the mountainside
Untouched but by divine hands
Each peak shrouded beneath such soft purity
While waves of spun gold
Collided with the sea
Would it not have been perfection
This day
To hear the song of the coqui
Reciting its sweet midnight serenade
Nestled and nurtured
Within the folds of a brilliant green canopy
Atop a stage kissed by silver moonlight
As waterfalls rage into infinity
Like a dream come true
One that ended too quickly
Or so it would seem
Still, it is the vision that will linger
Gently filling my soul
For the promise I thought I could not keep
To place upon your heart that which you crave
Was lost to nothing but an illusion
The darkness shattered by an unyielding love
Until somehow
We find ourselves complete
