After All This Time

After All This Time
So it begins again
These feelings oh so familiar
Churning like the darkest depths of the sea
Heart first
I’m swept away into the abyss
Whilst a soft glimmer of light beckons me
There is not a single day that I don’t think of you
Or miss you as if you had been right here with me
The pull so strong still brings me to my knees
The yearning to surrender unphased by time
How can it be after all this time
Your eyes, they remain the windows to my soul
I am still in awe of everything you are and have become
Left breathless by the mere sight of you
So oft I try to walk away
Only to find myself right back where I began
Lost in this all encompassing dream
What I’d give to wrap my arms around you
This journey, long and at times unforgiving
I cannot help but to cherish the thought of you
To cry out for you in such moments
Somethings I guess will never change
My life is at it has always been
An open book, set beneath a chaotic summer storm
The fire slowly rising inside of me
As thunder resonates across a magenta sky
Carrying me back where I belong
