Dragonfire

by SilverAngelFire
 Age Group: Adult

The sea it calls to me this day Entrancing and hypnotic The sun warming my heart Amidst the crashing of waves Scry for me begins the soft whisper You are safe here for now Show me all that you see Then speak of all that you wish to cease So that I may soar beyond the horizon And from dank cold passageways Your soul I will set free
The dark queen sitting steadily upon her throne It is she who disguises herself this night Slithering among the shadows Seething at the taste of her own ignorance Peering through windows Awaiting her moment of consumption Whilst she injects herself into others dreams She can see you there my dragon Lurking slowly behind her She believes that she can control you somehow But she does not yet understand This fierce fire she has ignited within you As well she dismisses what is not known This brilliant blue stone shared between us Its lustre after all these years goes undiminished Lighting your pathway home
She is angered by the mere sight of me Though I have done nothing but walk away Exiling myself to the edges of the earth I am nothing but a peasant Simple is my existence Graced solely by this lovingly overprotective dragon I am oblivious to why she fears me so There is nothing I can offer Too it is not a battle I would win Still, she searches Day after day Preparing for my arrival Though it is in vain as I shall not be there She will not find me among the masses Those loyal subjects begging to be fed from below For I have already been dealt a harsh blow For once I went, I saw and in my blindness asked Please sir, my son he has nothing to play with A stick or two, something, anything If it means for a moment you would listen I cannot tell you the courage it took And as if a bolt of lightening crashed up on the earth I was banished to my confines Sent reeling by a mean spirited little imp He who guards the gateway I can still feel the tears scoring my flesh Like red hot embers searing my skin No, I cannot bear that pain again
Yet she waits all the same For what it is I wonder Surrender, confess, gravel for forgiveness I won’t apologize for that which I cannot control The wandering thoughts of others Nor would I fight them should they come calling Oh my that would just be stupid now wouldn’t it Then again perhaps I would fight mmmm….but only long enough to let go Life is a double edged sword One should think long and hard What it is they truly want to see
But it is late now and my mind has grown weary My vision blurred in the fading of the day My body tired and unforgiving The energy pours from me like a crystalline waterfall With that the dragon returns from his stealth mission Fearful of the cougar ready to pounce And in one final swoop Whisks me away to worlds unknown Hidden far far away Safely wrapped within the folds of his gentle wings To sleep peacefully without sight or sound
