Wildflowers

Wildflowers
I saw you once I think
Across a field of wildflowers
As I sat atop a bed of crimson rose petals
Nestled and warm
Still adrift between the worlds
Lingering in the afterglow of my god
Your eyes glistening in the golden sunlight
As the cold crisp wind caressed your hair
It was you, was it not
Lost amidst the years of uncertainty
Still looking for the answers
I’m sorry you still hurt so bad
But it is your day now
To be cherished and celebrated
I imagine the stars still shine as brightly in your wake
For you are a king in your own right
Though perhaps a bit of a stray
Echoing gentle whispers
Of the eternal muses guiding your path
I wonder sometimes
Of those energies that roam beyond the moonlight
Have they ever reached your mind’s eye
With visions that still your very soul
Have you seen them dance beneath the willows
Igniting dreams that cannot be explained
I remember once, you kissed my forehead
Held me tighter than I could’ve ever imagined
I don’t know why
Only that I felt safe and sheltered
Your voice, it soothes me somehow
I didn’t want to let you go
It is a gypsy’s life to be sure
And not an easy one at that
Gossamer wings are only fluff
Truth be told it is the sharing of heart and mind
More radiant than even the greatest diamonds luster
That becomes much more significant here
Memories and feelings that seem to come and go
Not of my own of course
Empathy can be both a blessing and a curse
Still it’s there none the less
Funny after all these years
I’m not sure if I ever learned the difference
But I embrace those feelings and you always
I too love you as if you were my own brother
With a trust that goes unhindered
Every decision you have ever made and will make
Never underestimate yourself
You are wise my friend
Far beyond your years
