Soul Shadow

My reflection is not my own; a mirror of my soul.
It is not truthful nor does it tell lies.
My eyes see the future.
I focus on the past.
Veils of shadow mist the present.
Nothing is relevant, thoughts are unseemly, actions are for show.
You are now broken and unbelievably so.
You fear your choices. You are not alone.
Terror is at the end of our vision.
Nightmares are ever living.
Protector of dreams, my angel of peace where have you gone?
I have withdrawn from the world.
I do not belong here, I was not made for this world.
My barriers are up, I have strengthened my walls.
My journey continues. I follow the footsteps I hear.
Others need me. I will love them dearly. They will hurt me.
I will love them like noone has ever loved them before.
They will not understand the gift they were given.
They will let me go.
There will be more pain, even then I must keep walking.
Following the footsteps ahead of me.
I hear them, I hear you. I hear you crying.
I look behind me. I look at you. I shed a tear but I will myself to keep walking.
A shadow dulls my vision.
I look across a lake, deep in a pond.
In the abyss of my soul, in the depth of my eyes.
I look up in the mirror; and swirling in the mist, you are now part of my reflection.
A shadow.
