Breathe

by SilverAngelFire
 Age Group: Adult

Sometimes it all seems like a dream These distortions of my mind Slowly drowning my soul Has illness crept over me No There could be nothing more real I've tried to deny who I am Tried a million times to be like everyone else But I cannot Because I am not like everyone else I don't know how to live any other way I don't know how to live without you I never want to have to try To turn away now would leave me lifeless My heart drawn and quartered Consumed by the vultures ever circling This is not how this day was to end This day of hope, of love, of trust Celebrating the vows recited Instead it is this debilitating doubt that re-emerges Reminding me of the infinite space that separates us Disguising itself within the realization of our truths Yet, all is not lost I don't know what makes me think you can move mountains I guess it's because I know you Know that you would do everything in your power to try No matter how silly the request At that very moment you dropped everything You did, you dropped everything Taking your time to help two baby raccoons I didn't mean for you to do that but you did You just laughed and said I got you with those damn raccoons In all honesty it is quite the opposite Your eyes when you look at me sometimes And that smile, like the one you have right now There are simply no words to describe After all this time You'd think I'd be used to it But you get me every time Forcing me to turn myself around To remember where we've been Til there is nothing left to do but reach for you Nothing left but to feel you there Tracing the past with my fingertips Nose to navel Perfectly left uninterrupted My mind's eye hypnotized As I take it all in Though most would perceive little more than air It is enough to bring me back Releasing this suffocating weight from my chest Allowing me to breathe once again
