Adapting: Mind, Body & Soul
Of the questions that grace my mind’s eye from time to time
It is the simplest most sincere of ponderings
That brings to my lips the faintest of smiles
Do you think…but how…is it even possible?
Anything, I assure you, is possible
That is, if you’re willing to try
Adapting to the extraordinary
Fully and truly
Mind, body and soul
Without thought or hesitation
Entrancing me amidst the twilight
It is an acquired pleasure, I cannot deny
Detail void of detail, interesting
Though much can be said of the fantastical
Now quiet your mind
Shhhhhh
What is it that you most desire
For now there is nothing left to do
But listen to the words that gently linger
A guided tour of sorts
A letting go if you will
Playfully beckoning me to follow
Til I am whisked away
Down dimly lit corridors
Lined with intoxicatingly ornate chambers
So which one will it be tonight
Ahhhh, but you see
The answer has already been chosen for me
There is the most curious breeze this night
With the slightest of kisses against my skin
Awakening my every sense
Whilst my heart rate plunges into certain submission
I feel myself drifting deeper
As each sweet breath softly slows
I am awakened between two worlds
Dreamily swaying with the rise of the tide
Trying to keep this ever so fragile balance
Before the beat of my heart begins its inevitable climb
And I find myself breathless
Returned to these all too familiar surroundings
Held safe and warm
Where the most perfect of sleep will be my prize
