The Kiss

The Kiss
It was as it was in a dream I had once
Absolutely, enticingly brilliant
Every ounce of your strength
Held tight against me
Focused and driven
My head spinning
This though was not a dream
Here I could fight you
Pretend like I don’t care
Or at least try to anyway
Dreams they mean so many different things
Oft they are not what we had thought or expected
The mind in all its eternal wonder
I have taught myself well
To accept the alternate reasoning
I tried today to resist you
However in vain
Kiss me you said, just kiss me please
After all this time
Aren’t you even the slightest bit curious?
It is nothing more than a kiss I assure you
To see, to feel or not feel for that matter
One kiss is all it takes
As you inched ever near
On the back of my neck
Your breath like soft spun silk
How indescribably frustrating it is
This realization that to you I cannot say no
You truly are stronger than I think
More aware than I sometimes believe
Still that was yesterday and this is today
I am stronger
Yes, one kiss is all it would take
And there'll be nothing
Nothing more than my body slowly easing into yours
Nothing other than the background fading to gray
Nothing but the slow burn rising up through my soul
That soft voice in my head telling me to lose myself in you
As every bit of tension releases its hold on me
I see only you
Feel only you
Sighing like some silly girl
Damn you and that kiss
