Song of the Bluebird

by SilverAngelFire
 Age Group: Adult

Nothing is more sweet than the whisper of the wind Upon which the song of a bluebird is carried Enticingly hypnotic is the ethereal voice Enlightening pathways along life’s crossroads And so it’s said that this is how the story goes
I write, I sing, I play quietly when there is such a need I feel the beating of drums buried down deep within my soul An odd sensation I will say, that it seems I cannot escape Whether I’m here or there, it is with me always In the heaviness of the song there is found no randomness There is but one reason alone, to lose oneself The brilliance of a solemn spark ignites a tender heart It is an emotion I’ve learned to share, for I am the one Who has nurtured it, throughout all these years Two halves of a complete heart Though the pain is harsh at times, I’m oft not wrong Not an easy task, is one much harder to watch When one side closes its eyes so tightly, electing hell The other so utterly terrified of no more than itself Refusing to show its true face, skin, hair, nails, toes Amongst other things, the list seemingly endless
In opposite directions running like scared rabbits Though like magnets they cannot deny the pull Always finding themselves back where they started Too, both have bound themselves to death Ancestrally, maritally, as siblings and spouses The weight you’ll find is not found upon the neck Nor, at any time is it vulnerable to being broken For I would die a thousand times over and over again To honor and protect every year of its making It is always a safe bet to remember A bluebird never leaves their nest unattended
Betrayal seems to be the common link these days But such treachery is only found in deceit or thievery And not when that which is so abundantly treasured Is given wholly and freely, though at times a bit reluctantly Do not fear the hurt you think you’ve placed on me There is no other I trust more, so it is I who called you here To hear my song and listen to the beauty in the chords I flew away once, too far this time to return No matter how hard I try, I’ll never be able to take it back It appears I've left the one thing I found that finally mattered It’s not fair that I should place upon another this curse To be imprisoned so contently amidst this life sentence I’ll never understand, though I cherish it always When you see my name you’ll know I’m here Hidden amongst the staff, serpent and reeds Keeping an ever watchful eye on the horizon Listen intently to the song the bluebird sings
