Have You Ever...

Have You Ever…
Have you ever dreamed of the impossible
Known in your heart it were true
Ever reached so high
You touched the face of the sun
Only to realize
There’s nothing you could do
Save to walk away
Have you ever hurt so bad
And smiled so bright
All at the same time
Could you walk such a path
For the next thirty years
Crying inside so that no one can hear
Have you ever wanted to just let it all go
But the more you try, the stronger it flows
Have you ever thought it necessary
To keep your enemies close
If for nothing more than to protect your soul
Have you ever been so overwhelmingly flooded
You could feel the warmth wrapped around you
And touched the ripples of the sea
To which your heart transcended
Have you ever wanted something so badly
No matter how much you told yourself it didn’t matter
Have you ever had to face the fact that some dreams
Regardless of how incredibly vivid
Well those dreams
Were just never going to come through
