Lammas

Wheat and apples full and ripe
Grapes robust upon the vine
Celebrate abundance now
Bake you bread and press your wine
Eve of harvest orchards wait
Horses are ready scythe is sharp
Tomorrow we pick, collect and store
Then celebrate with wine and harp
Contemplate what you have sown
The fruition of all your toil
Thank the mother for her help
Renewing life through her soil
Summer teeters on the edge
Autumn pulls gently on her toes
Winter is sighted on the horizon
Garden and field still grows
The air is still and sticky hot
Anticipation of change is looming
Collecting honey for making meed
Barley and hops are blooming
Join with family, friend and stranger
Toast each other toast the mother
Feed all of those who hunger
We are one we are all we are each other
