Secrets of the Magi

Secrets of the Magi
What they call Magic you seek to learn
And in your search have been blinded
Go within and for truthfulness yearn
Only there will you find it
Yes, there are spells and ritual
Performed with candle and wand
And rites to honor and bless
In Amber, Jet, and cloak donned
And yes, there are Books of Shadows
And Covens that meet in a grove
And initiations of A Year And A Day
And amulets made of Mandrake and Clove
It is not these things that define Magic
But the energy and intent put forth
Each Magician holds a different key
And their soul, the magical source
Magic is not all tools and rhyme
Nor potions, charms, and flame
But a beauty that has withstood all time
In search of truth and light been gained
A child grown within the mother
Or the strength of the great Oak tree
The world through the eyes of another
The common thread tying you to me
The lightening that races the thunder
The wind that caresses your face
The birds in nests of twig and moss
The intricacy of a spider’s lace
The seedling that turns to healing root
The stars that guide the night
The music set forth by drum or lute
The full moon…that, a magical sight!
The sweet sound of a lover’s whisper
Your child’s gaze in your eyes
A bond between brother and sister
In these where true magic lies
Around you and within you
Above and below you as well
If only you’re willing to listen
These secrets your spirit will tell
