The Love Letter

I wished from you a love letter
To set my heart at ease
To drown within your seas
For me, if you please
Your words were illegible
Written in your sloppy hand
Slipped through my mind like sand
Like dreams when thought too grand
A paper full of nothingness
Words meant to deceive
How lovers never leave
A tangled web to weave
An empty heart has no words
Cannot whisper what is true
Cannot follow through
Cannot offer unto you
That letter now burnt to ash
A memory of the past
A spell not meant to cast
A promise not meant to last
A sigil engraved in stone
Had I have known better
And you, my heart’s debtor
A cursed and damned love letter
