It is not for you that I write this
As I have many times before
I have tried so hard to fight this
To turn and shut this door
But the wind keeps blowing it open
To a room warm, blurry, and bright
I enter always hoping
A soul’s eager, hopeless plight
I am kept here, drawn and bound
And so farther in I go
Hearts have fallen to the ground
With nothing left to show
Given all there was to be had
Taken more than was offered
The air is stifling, heavy and sad
More than I have suffered
The fire is now an ember
Still hope, no matter how small
If only I could remember
The feeling before the fall…
