I Heard The Lightning Sing

Storm...
Rain falling, not too hard,
It's beautiful.
Flash!
Bright streak in the dark,
Dazzling, wonderful.
Count...
Five beats, and thunder...
Low roll.
Sit and watch
Light and sound stirring energy,
Powerful, strong.
Storm,
Like any other, until...
Lightning Sings.
I heard a voice,
Electric, distant, high...
Not even a breath before the flash...
Singing only a moment
And I am amazed...
I watch... listen...
More flashes, no more voice,
Perhaps I imagined.?.
No! I hear it again!
Thin and high, the lightning sings,
I am spellbound.
Only a few,
Not every flash sings out loud,
not with that voice...
"Beautiful, " I breathe,
Close my eyes and sleep,
Lightning Singing in my mind.

Author's Notes: I have never heard of Lightning Singing before, but when I told Steve what I heard, he told me that it has happened. It was the coolest thing, sitting there as four or five of the many stikes sang that high, electric note.
Just when I think I've seen and heard it all, I get something to remind me... "Not even close, little girl!" Like singing lightning. One can only wonder, at times like this, "What next?" Wonders around every bend...
