Nunc Est Bibendum (Now Is The Time To Drink)

Rich, dark red in
Smooth, clear crystal,
Liquid garnets in moonlight.
Slowly dancing 'round my glass,
Cling to the sides, then gently fall.
Inhale deep, the enticing scent,
The crystal meets my lips...
The flavour floods my mouth.
Rose colour rises to my face
As the warm red slips down.
...I feel the shiver through my spine,
...Lost in the sensation.
...The first lingering taste always brings
...A slight intoxication.
Sharp bite, the ruby flow,
Now soft, now smooth,
Now teasing all my senses.
Savouring the moment and
I feel the gentle spin.
In delight, tonight I sing
"Nunc Est Bibendum~
Now is the time to drink!"
I raise my glass, continue this dance
With Bacchus, Dionysus!

Author's Notes: What can I say? I really love a great red wine. ;-)
This one started life as a couple of lines that came to me as I gazed into a particularly lovely glass of red. As so many, it sat in a notebook, unfinished for too long. It started nagging me, "When are you gonna' finish writting me?" It was Latin phrase "Nunc Est Bibendum" (Now is the time to drink) that provided the title and the rest of the poem.
Perhaps my Muse was dancing too long with the Wine God? She took a while to get back to me. :-) But I finaly got this one done. (And now my other unfinished pieces are starting to pester me!) Ah, well... G'night all.
