Nightvision

In dreams, great Truths transcend the Day,
Dimensions merge to dance and play,
My nighttime voyage to lands afar,
Encompass worlds of distant stars.
Last night I fled within, without,
Where hunters could not search me out,
In refuge high, a barricade,
I built to keep those men away.
The Others there had come to be,
Sweet ritual planned in secrecy,
To etch in skin, heart's dear desire,
Becoming one with sacred fire.
The Shaman did not want me there,
And yet relented to my prayer,
That I be marked with his design,
Whatever symbol came to mind.
Now, I am marked with Celtic signs,
Full fifteen patterns wrought fair fine,
But this is not what moved his hand,
A medicine wheel would be my brand.
He thought the wheel should not be mine,
But I assured him it was fine,
Blackfoot and Cherokee share my line,
With Irish, Scot, and British kind.
As soon as needle kissed my skin,
I jumped into adrenaline spin,
Between the realms of light and dark,
The welcomed pain lit limbic spark.
And drifiting on euphoric haze,
My inward muse met outbound gaze,
A voice was calling my True Name,
A Royal greeting it proclaimed.
My vision cleared and I could see,
In glen, a splendid company,
Horse and riders, stopped to rest
They blessed me with embrace and kiss.
When woods were full of summer green,
I spoke at length to the Faery Queen,
Across the spanse of time and space,
So clearly could I see Her face.
