by Lunar Pixie
Age Group: Adult
A line, quite clear you had drawn
Yet I constantly overlooked it
I think that really, I didn't want to see
That dividing line you drew between us
And so, quite selfishly, I went on...
Trying, sometimes crying in fear
Just so I could draw you back to me
Longing for the closeness we once shared
Gentle and polite, you'd still respond
Patiently putting up with my willful blindness
As I continued choosing not to see
The way you tried to keep the distance
Yet now in these hours before the dawn,
As I sit and think about us...
I know it is time to set you free
I know, love, that I've been so unfair...
Author's Notes: ...
Sometimes I just try to hold on too long.
Even when it's clear that things have changed.
Author's Location: Lithonia, Georgia
