Unity
Once we were as one,
Children of the Moon and Sun,
Killed for being Satan’s spawn
Silenced in Rome’s darkling dawn.
Lies and liars brought us down,
Forced us deeper under ground,
Harried, hounded, chained and bound,
Tortured, quartered, burned and drowned.
One from another, far apart,
Mattered not,
We had ever a single heart!
Finally we found our place,
Here among the human race,
Days of danger far behind,
Faces smile, words are kind.
We have been so well deceived,
Thinking our religion free,
Scaling mountains,
Swimming seas.
Now within our own ranks rise,
Witches with their own designs,
Set upon the dreadful crime,
Of carving up the ancient shrine.
Bent on being powerful,
Within the world they have defined,
What was once so wonderful,
They have speared on stolen tines.
Wiccan, Wizard, Witch and kind,
What’s the right word for these times?
I know! I know!
Screams each queen,
Sure she’s got the one true dream,
Following the master scheme,
That made her chief in charge.
A tiny, shiny bird made large.
Covens left in ruins,
All from secrets brewing,
A sure plan for disaster,
All hail the new master!
We will call us what we will,
Of this war we’ve had our fill,
Keep your power to yourself,
May it hound you to your hell.
Witch and Wizard, magic men,
Women wise, and worthy kin,
Let the liars have their hate,
Leave them to their liars’ fate.
In charge of less than nothing.
Calling whatsoever we will,
What we do with wit and Will,
We will rule the night and day,
Until this Earth shall pass away.
Burning Times draw closer still,
Bleak clouds darken Gallows Hill,
Comes our killers all about,
In the name of their god’s house.
We, in tattered ribbons, stand,
Friend of Fairy, friend to Man,
Wishing for a wizened hand,
To give us all direction.
In the end, it’s unity,
Will save us from disparity.
When darkness finally falls,
One will save us all,
One within us all,
If we will only listen.
Author's Notes: At this time when unity will prove so precious to Man in his effort to survive, many following a Pagan spiritual path have become victims of those among us who have risen to the one position of authority they might ever hold; the leadership of a group of like-minded people that will permit these failed authoritarians to indulge their deepest fantasy; that is, running someone else's life.
Schism is essential to these fools, for any open exchange of information might result in their followers find out just how thoroughly they are being deceived.
It would be far better for these megalomaniacs to remember that high position expands one's servitude. It does not empower one to condemn Wiccans, Celtic Witches, Strega, Wise Ones, or anyone else. Lately the grand debate is over what word best applies to what, just a few years ago, was called a witch or Wiccan.
One group adamantly opposes the term "witch", decrying the practice of magic in any form while on the very same page spouting their vast knowledge of occult practices.
Another touts prayer over spellcasting in a blatant attempt to keep within the Judeo-Christian fold.
Almost every one demands exclusivity from their members, providing various methods for breaking any tie to past beliefs.
In sum, in their efforts to empower themselves and to assume the papacy of their own little herd of sheep, they have sacrificed the unity that we will so desperately need in the very near future.
My poem says it much better than my prose: unity is freedom. Tyrany at any level will destroy us all.
