The Virgin's Wild Hunt

Oh living Goddess
Virgin Huntress
The forests call to you
And so you enter and hunt
As we all must do
Searching and seeking
Exploring your Queendom
When out from the shadows
a masked face appears-
Who dares approach my sacred ground?!
Who lingers there witnessing my secrets?
I give chase!
I will drive you away!
Until I see a speck of something in your eye
That catches my eye-
..Why, it’s just a boy!..out upon my land
Just out of reach
My war cries do not frighten him away
Strange that I feel something
inviting in those eyes
He’s quick and he’s sharp-
-sharper than my arrow that keeps missing him..
I fear I no longer wish to kill him
He is no more of a threat than
that elk behind the tree
Why does he keep his distance?
Why do I bid him come close?
To speak and approach,
explain what has brought him to me..
Author's Notes: Somewhere between sleep and awake- I had this connection with the Maiden/Virgin Goddess. Her first encounter with the God. All the emotions that went through her..first anger and defense. Then intrigue and allure. After she asks herself "Why is he here and what does he want" she awakes the next day to find that he has left her gifts..beautiful gifts that make her smile. She accepts these gifts and everyday he leaves something new. Until the day comes when he finally speaks- and their loves ensues..
