The Next Time

by Sansura
 Age Group: Adult

Sympathy (The Next Time)
I By our saying, things once invisible can be captured. The time you poured alcohol in our bathroom sink to see if it really turned blue once alight. We will never know how it was done, my singed arms hint at the outcome. Revelation is not the wisdom of humanity, only Gods can say the way things are really thought. The only true tragedy is you cannot be undressed for centuries. How can anyone feel sad if no tragedy is ever true? The betrayal came before the fall. A tree grew up long after, another’s temptation swaying sweetly from its branches.
II The universe started with a song. A voice pitching high and soft then low and loud and higher again. Black holes sing this song, sucking in light and stars, dust and dark for the purpose of recreation. Universes, converses, reverses. What are we but the verses of old songs? Satan speaks in reverses. All those Chicago records scratching evil into our skulls. Somewhere in the universe a cat waits for a song to make it visible in life or death. Something with a bit of swing to take the sting from a broken heart.
III Spring starts with the sounds of new stars. The bloom of new leaves on old trees, made entirely by photosynthesis. There is too much sunlight in the world. The moon sometimes blushes, hating that she is made inferior by a star. Yet she always has a fondness for worship. The wisdom of humanity isn’t found in love, which is all relative anyway. That light in the hallway creates shadows across your body hidden under cotton. The true tragedy is sympathy. No one can share the fall, but all feel the effects of the impact.
