Beltane

Rain showers pour down,
The winter days have expired.
The spokes of the wheel turn round
As the flames of the bonfire burn higher.
Autumn husks have returned to the earth
So that new life can be found,
Once again bursting forth from green turf
As the spokes of the wheel turn round.
With hands and a pole of pine
Ribbons ripple through the air.
Red and white they flash and twine,
With the flames of the bonfire burning higher.
The summer sun unfurls his warm rays,
That penetrates the Mother’s luscious ground
Creating honeysuckle, calf, magick, day,
Turning the spokes of the wheel round.
Warm days grow in passion
Igniting dormant desires,
Limbs strain with the reaction
As the flames of the bonfire burn higher.
Crocus, daffodil, spring beauty bloom
Their blossoms in woven wreaths abound,
Upon fair heads of pagans whom,
Feel the spokes of the wheel turn round.
Men and women gather, wanting to aspire,
Dancing, crying, laughing, loosing,
Themselves in the sound
Of the flames of the bonfire,
Burning higher,
As the spokes of the wheel turn round.
