When mortals do but dream

Night has fallen, the town’s asleep
It is the time, this rule they keep
But all is not as it seems
When mortals do but dream
Traveling through dew soaked grass
Beltane eve not long past
Dancing under May’s full moon
Echoing a haunted piper’s tune
Fairies dance and pixies fly
Nymphs skipping merrily by
Dancing in a conga line
Racing fauns call “she’s mine”
Spirits wander in the night
Barely seen by moon’s bright light
Hoofed feet rapping out a beat
Drumming tapping little feet
Music, song getting louder
With the call of ancient power
Quickly as it began
Suddenly it ends again
The sun doth rise
Rubbing his sleepy eyes
The circle breaks
A mortal wakes
She steps outside to greet the dawn
A mushroom ring upon the lawn
And she whispers
Softly whispers
“All is not as it seems
When mortals do but dream”
