Age Group: Adult
From our birth to our death we are cradled
Autonomy within our whole being
Constellations are sworn and not fabled
When I came here, I didn't plan leaving
Lying in midsummers palm, I sense pains
Want nothing more, than look up at the stars
As my heart stops pumping blood through my veins
Galaxies of souls are seen as I wilt
As well as lost relationships I've built
Author's Notes: As I lye awake, far past midnight, in county jail, the first line of this sonnet came to mind. I hurriedly got out a pen and piece of paper and slowly wrote down the first line of what eventually would become "Lakyra Kaara" (Which, by the way, is my cat's name) .
