Innocence Lost

What is innocence and how is it lost?
When do you know the line has been crossed?
Do you bid it Good-bye in a lovers embrace,
Or when the first tear of true sorrow falls down your face?
Is it the loss of virginity that darkens the heart,
Or is it callous words that make it depart?
The unspeakable questions you've pondered before,
When taunts and temptations wreath your souls door.
So many dark, sweet whispers in a youthful ear
Bring excitement instead of the expected fear.
Something so beautiful can be made so crude.
It makes the ultimate innocence obscene and lewd.
Timid at first but eager to learn,
Bodies entwine and passions burn.
It comes so naturally and it feels so true
When your in their arms its like you always knew.
What is innocence and how is it lost?
How does it survive when the 'pure' accoust?
So many willing to tell you whats right,
that maintaining yourself is a desperate plight.
The world looks so bright when you are small
But then life hits you, your hope starts to fall.
You try and you try and its never enough
Your innocence flees as your heart becomes tough.
Finally you weep as you see life unfold
Innocence is lost, the story is told.
