Saint Dymphna

Blessed Dymphna of the Celts,
Protectress of those unwell;
In mind or spirit or bodies broken,
Lift those up who need Your token
Of peace and tranquility of mind,
Protection to me please bind.
Healing body, mind, and soul,
As above, and so below.
Lend Your sacred strength to me,
Guide me to the path I need.
Teach me how to overcome,
Darkest apathy be done.
Surround me in your loving grace,
Inner shadows help me face.
Cleanse my soul for all to see,
As I will, so mote it be.

Author's Notes: Saint Dymphna was believed to be a 7th century Celtic princess. She was sexually abused by her obsessive father. She escaped as a young woman, but he pursued her until he found her in Belgium, where she died, either by his hands, or those of the Christian authorities. Spiritual appeals may be made to her on the behalf of incest/molestation survivors, or anyone suffering from a mental health crisis.
