Dream of Man

Age Group: Adult
An emerald field all draped in mist
With dunes of silver sleeping near
A sky so black the stars are jewels
This dreamland man once held so dear.
An ancient guardian begins to wake
The sleepy eye now has a twin.
The dune of silver begins to stir
Revealing one of Dragon Kin.
She spreads her wings and yawns a roar
Her shadow falls across the land.
The mist draws back; reveals a world
Tormented by the works of man.
The emerald field no longer gleams,
Glass glitters in her bed of sand.
The Mother's wounds bleed; she cries out
But deaf to her are the ears of man.
Until the People rise up again
Spotting the Ancient in the sky
They raise their voices; raise their fists
"We have heard the Mother cry!"
The field on which the People stand
Gleams once more in emerald green
The dunes are once again just sand
And once again begins Man's dream.
Author's Notes: This came to me during work... I was thinking about the desert and how trashed it is getting. And then I was thinking about Ireland and how they are giving up the old rural styles to move to Dublin. Just trying to make a point.
