The American State of Mind

Age Group: Adult
Pleading with their silent voice,
Blue-white wings and cool dark eyes -
Tears are falling for our choice.
Angels are trapped by human ignorance as deep
As the violent depths of emotion –
As the largest of our deepest seas.
We remain in constant anger
Within the reign of pandemic greed -
Untrusting of love yet trusting in a stranger.
Blind to the Man who lives in white
And blind to the actions taken -
Unmoving as the noose grows tight.
Deaf to the souls calling for peace
And immune to the sight of hate -
Only blood and war can we create.
Lost to the wars on Choice
And focused on battles about sex -
We do not hear the homeless voice.
What happened to Love, to Peace, to Light?
What happened to make us hate?
