Ennui

To heralds of felicity
You grant a certain apathy
And all your sparse intensity
Seems focused on hostility
Your sources of tranquility
Receive your bitter enmity
And though you say that honestly
You wish for mere serenity
The seed of your duplicity
Betrays your utter clarity
To know you could be ecstacy
But none can break your damned ennui
Author's Notes: Okay... If it's not completely obvious, this is about me.
I was pretty irritated with myself the day I wrote this. And why the hell SHOULDN'T I have been!? I was being a dick, like I often do. Here's a line-by-line breakdown of my psyche for all y'all:
I ignore good news to feel sorry for myself
What motivation I CAN gather, I waste on blame
I take out my frustrations on the people I love
I say I want peace, but anyone who gets to know me knows that my heart is far from it and my pretense gives me away EVERY time
I know I can BE a good friend, lover, whatever, but my stupid ego gets in the way all the damn time
To sum up - I SUCK, but I can be okay with that :)
