Patience

Age Group: Adult
The moon stands in the last quarter,
casting no shadows, the longing arises
to breathe in her aura, cling to the
silvered beams of her breath.
Desire natural and insistent
to wear the flames fed within,
outwardly, to walk serenely through
all the days of my life as I am.
And the magick works a spell
upon my room and the air grows
heavy, the mirrors house secrets
and it makes me sigh, uneasiness rises.
The disquiet inside unnerves me,
yet, I am cognizant that this night,
more than any other, bridges the
world of sunlight with that of the past.
I no longer run from house to house
with the expectation of the sweet surprises
of strangers, instead taking my place
at the curb, watching and protecting.
Patience is rewarded sometimes, yet
I am longing to know
who has come to sit near me, radiating
expectations at my side.
