First Light

First Light
Each evening they watched Her fading light
As Her once Full Orb diminished from sight.
‘Til the sky was dark where She had been
And all could but hope She’d return again.
Now where all was dark in the evening sky,
A faint thin crescent greets the eye.
First light seen of the Goddess above
As Her children wait looking up with love.
“Look! She’s back!” arises the cry,
And all Her children raise arms to the sky.
“Blessed Goddess we greet thee and give welcome to You.
For we know Your return instills life anew.
New life to our being and light to our way
Your love to be with us on our journey each day.
And as You grow fuller and stronger and bright,
We will look up and give You our thanks every night.”
