To the Fallen Children of the Gods

by Lord Shining Starr
 Age Group: Adult

To the Fallen Children of the Gods
He called to you to go and fight; Make peace for all who dwell in the light. Diligently, you played the game; To bloody the fields and gain high fame. A young man, bard and scribe; New to the world, the pride of his tribe. A father, who with family still; Did hear the war god’s angry shrill. A wise man, gray with children grown; Into this bloody arena was thrown. And so the three fought night and day; To bring peace to a land, to let freedom have sway. The protector of them sat with glee; As the enemy of they we adore did flee. But the battle was far from done; And the day was not yet won. So, home they marched tried and true; Beaten and broken and marked black and blue. Their families rejoiced upon that day; As the Goddess returned them in her own way. Each with their stories to tell; Of their struggles in a place like hell. The bard told tales never boring; Of the men in all their glory. The father watched with careful eye; As his children did play in the rye. And the wise man, swelled with pride; Had returned home, since he had died. But no peace came to him; As all who knew him stood grim. "Fear not, " said an eloquent voice; "He fought for peace, it was his choice." "For his reward for his pain; Is the greatest gift to gain." "Dear Bard, " came the voice; "Let your song, remember his choice." "To you a father, he did grant; The right to be where other’s can’t." "Who are you that brings comfort here? We beg to thee, to us appear." And so she appeared before their eyes; The beautiful Mother, in no disguise. "I am she, who held your hand, As you battled for my land." "The gift for all so struggle here; Is rebirth, without fear." "For what dies is made a new; Only for those that hold the Mysteries true." "For every beating heart does pray, To us three in their own way." The father, now a wise man became; And the bard, a father tame. And a son, fresh and new; Now has come to stand here too. He now stands, with harp in hand; Telling stories and sharing songs of the land. Again they hear the battle cry; And Aries drum does beat in time. Back they go into that place; To confront the enemy with no face. Back they go with no shame; To win themselves, glory and fame. They fight for freedom well deserved; And for peace that is reserved. Aries blessing he does bring; As swords to clash, and bang, and ring. And the Mother holds their hand; As they Fight now for her land. So ever remember Children of Light; Those that chose to fight this night. In a place much like hell; Of this the bards did tell.
