Shadowed creature

by Dandy Lion
 Age Group: Adult

I feel the weight of a burdened world
For I know whats to be.
People hide behind that new car smell and
Those new diamond rings.
I see it, know it, sense it....
It is waiting to appear.
Rappidly encroaching upon sacred space
We grasp and crumple, as it grows near.
I hear a quiet voice, telling me it's not my time...
It is not your turn they say..
For Shadowed creatures will not and can not shine.
We walk the valley of shadows
The veil of the in between.
Silent eyes held in repose
We hold no map, but...
we know what we've seen.
People bathe in blinding rays;
unable, unwilling to see the other half.
In somber light, I see no reflections.
In a sleepy world I bask.
I hold to myself and no other;
I have been at war my whole life.
Waiting...Watching....
I am not yet ripe.
Who am I to be?
What is to become?
For I know these happenings
are not able to be undone.
We will lay no claim to Earth;
She will lay claim to us.
For meddlesome minds, hearts and hands
Will hold only hallowed trust.
Tears fall on bare branches,
laying frozen in time.
Sun can not reach me here,
for I am where light can not find.
Tawney Gibson
 Author's Notes: Well, I guess this could be taken many different ways, and mean many things. To me it is about our constant search, insatiable hunger, and need for control. We as humans, I feel, have immense potential, but can not leave well enough alone. Some things are not supposed to be known, if there is no mystery left, what is the point? We aim to cure, to conquer, to control our outside environment, when we should be going within and conguering ourselves. I am no guru and have never made such mad claims, but to me is is clearly evident that while we are a piece of divinity, we have not right to lay claim to everything. The mystery of life, death and the in between should stay that way. There is indeed a fine line between learning and helping and tampering with the natural world.
