Blood of Nerthus

green, deep
she contemplates
rippled, her frustrated brow
of her slow meander
round unyeilding stone
through wood enchanted
into lakes seemingly still
though her current beats beneath
as a heart, fierce, slow, cold
and she crawls ever onward
to the shining sea
Author's Notes: I was walking past a little pond here and suddenly thought of how isolated it must feel, to not be in the "blood stream" of the world, how it must be lonely not to churn with the other waters of the world and that spawned this idea for a poem.
I hope you like it.
