How Come?

Age Group: Adult
What we were told as children,
no questions should we ask.
Now wiser in adulthood,
let’s remove the mask.
Our faith requires learning,
growing, shifting, change.
What worked for us just yesterday
is now way out of range.
We now must ask those questions,
not accepting all we’re told.
Fear, blind faith, and hatred,
a bill of goods was sold.
All thy work is holy
though we might not understand.
What’s worthy of our love or not
is left to higher hand.
Doctrine that creates divide,
when we are all as One,
has no place, the human race,
what good is being done?
No matter where it comes from,
a pulpit, rally, pew.
If hurting others with dissent,
it’s time to say it’s through.
Supporting institutions
out of habit not of thought,
nothing good of that can come
nor change what’s being taught.
Change is good not easy,
nor was it meant to be,
but finding truth within one’s self
can surely set us free.
