After the Rain

Somewhere beyond a sun is burning
Though here, is only gloaming
Quiet and cool as thoughts of stone
In gray lays still and soaking
Wet with sky and roiling mist
A field, green and alive subdued
Puddles flooded to tiny seas
Are mute and silver hued
A silence here seems to vibrate
Like a wind that wants to grow
Yet for now all things are resting
In this quiet valleys soul
Next round the sun will bake and dry
Again will come the light
Till then is sleep and shallow breath
In misted vales this night
