Guard of your Heart

Are you tired just like me
And find you've seen what you wanted to see
Nothing seems to glimmer anymore
Least not like it did before
C'mon and take a walk with me
So many things that I can help you be
I've got a jar of polish and a rag
Lets put the shine back into what we had
I know you still hear my voice
You fear, maybe this was the wrong choice
Everything you once thought clear
Suddenly is dark under that cold veneer
But baby let go of the doubt
I've always been here to help you out
And when you look back upon the road
Can't you see it's my hand you wanted to hold
We talked a lot about doors and keys
But never the weakness in our knees
Never the feelings that just don't die
So strong like thunder ripping in the sky
We spend the hours trying not to say
What games our hearts wanted us to play
There's always a reason for you to go
So now your up that hill and your all alone
Can't you see I'm your Tristan your my Isolde
Yeah it's a tragedy as we've all been told
But like the greatest of loves it has to be
Even if it shines for only you and me
So it's time to come down from your hill
Into my arms where you can lay down still
Close your eyes and let yourself to sleep
I'll guard your heart in my strongest keep
Author's Notes: I feel like I need to put a disclaimer here because... well the following could very easily be taken in the wrong light by certain people. Like all art it is the product of things that have shaped and moved the artist. It is the culmination of many mixed spices that one stews in ones mind and certainly that comes from experiences - good and bad. So with that in mind. This is just a meandering set of lyrics. It's not a pining for love lost or a lyrical apology trying to mend a broken relationship. Hopefully it will resonate with you the reader in some way and perhaps you can find a parallel for these words in your own life. If so then I have done my job as a writer. But to those close to me, don't read to much into this. It is only the steaming hiss of my mental decompression chamber.
