Rain Reborn

Stretching my wings I feel the rain softly falling
Cleaning away the dirt from the past of harder living
I flap them as I rinse my spirit, welcoming the drops
Spreading, shielding those I love, keep them from the cold
My roots they settle in the ground, so long it has been
Since I could settle into life, and let it start again
Gingerly touching each worry, letting it fall away
I find myself naked and worn, awaiting a brand new day
I’ve wandered two years alone in the dark
Thinking I’d nothing to give
Because her love has brought me here
My spirit reborn to live
I take a breath and step outside, to feel it on my skin
Letting my soul be cleansed from pain, my spirit brings new in
The freshness of the energy, released from deep within
The love of all who stuck by me, causes another grin
Allowing the rain to wash my soul, my life, it seems less gray
She’s pulled me out of the fire of life, and taught me how to pray
I’ll let the goddess take over now; I’m finally ready for flight
To let her teach me all she knows, and fighting her good fight
I’ve wandered two years alone in the dark
Thinking I’d nothing to give
Because her love has brought me here
My spirit reborn to live
Today as the rain softly falls, the dampness in my hair
I listen to her lessons, lingering in the moistened air
The chill makes me stop, I feel the wind blow
I focus for a moment, before I start to go
The rain falling softly, my spirit renewed
The drops start to soften changing the gray hue
Transforming my life, giving a different view
Light drops from the clouds, the sky now bright blue
I’ve wandered two years alone in the dark
Thinking I’d nothing to give
Because her love has brought me here
My spirit reborn to live
Author's Notes: I wrote this back in February, when the weather was wet and my life was transforming. I intended it to be a song, but I myself couldn't find the tune.
I now have the honor of a pagan group wanting to use my work for their music. Perhaps now my work will find a tune.
