Ragnarok

Age Group: Adult
Eating nothing, drinking wine,
Odin sits in Gladsheim.
The gods are feasting, unaware
that the day of doom is near.
Soon the time of feast will end
and the time of battle begin.
Already Loki has unleashed
from his chains the maddened beast
who will swallow up the sun.
Of those who know, none can say
all that follows from this day.
The sun's daughter shall arise
to be her mother in the skies.
Balder returns, bringing peace.
After this, all visions cease.
All this and more does Odin know,
but, for the moment, he lets it go.
He grabs his cup and raises a toast
to the health of the assembled host.
