The Real Story of Candy Canes
By Lady Abigail
Candy Canes are make by whispers of love,
Carried to Yule trees by small fairies and doves.
Candy cane magick is sweet and so nice,
With colors mixed and twisted thrice.
White is the spirit in magick come true,
As red holds the hope for all life anew.
The smallest of Elf’s mix sugar and dreams,
Then polish them to a glistening glean.
The Peppermint Fairy took that candied stick,
To put on the Yule tree would be quite a trick.
But as she hurried and rushed to help the Fay,
She stumbled and fell across the milky way.
She dropped that confection and it fell very far,
Until it had bent and caught on a star.
Carefully the Fairies of Yule gathered round,
They needed to move that bend cane to where it was bound.
Together they tugged and the star briefly shook,
But it release that funny cane with the crook.
So Peppermint Fairy with care hung that cane on the tree,
Now that’s how candy canes really came into being.

Author's Notes: Just heard a ridicules Xmas story about the candy cane... I wanted to just scream. So instead I wrote one with a differing point view. By the way, candy canes were not invented by any church, or as a Xmas holiday or religious treat.
