Indiana Winter

Age Group: Adult
The big lake in the north,
brings down the howling wind,
just when you’re about to think,
that winters at an end.
Oh no, get out the shovel,
it’s not springtime yet,
the snow is not done flying,
we’ll get one more I bet.
Mounds of snow all around,
glistening pure and white,
background set, what contrast seen,
twelve cardinals take to flight.
Now, black on white what can it be,
moving through the snow,
a horse and buggy all in black,
feel the north wind blow.
Windows rattle, shutters bang,
old boards start to clack,
Start the fire, turn up the heat,
Old man winters back!
