My Goddess

Men sing her beauty or go insane
Each night when she appears
Her brilliant gaze has smote the stars
As her presence nears
She may hide her face
behind a cloud’s embrace
pretending to be shy
or dance with unveiled grace
so wanton, across a midnight sky.
I am her faithful servant
Each night that she is round
I raise my arms in supplication
My knees upon the ground
I bask in her cool glory
I beg her leave not soon
I hail her, my mistress
My Goddess, my Moon.
